In the past, our society has tended to view fathers as providers rather than nurturers. And historically, courts have agreed with this sentiment, generally granting mothers custody and requiring fathers to pay support. However, fatherhood is changing and more and more fathers' are increasingly involved in the daily upbringing of their children.

A documentary on fatherhood is currently in production in Ohio. Produced by the Los Angeles film company GreenHouse Studios and the northeast Ohio production group Cinema 2:16, the film "Fatherhood 101" profiles six fathers from northeast Ohio.

The film will address parenting issues such as divorce, single parenting, financial struggles, absenteeism and child custody battles. The intention behind the project is to celebrate fatherhood and educate fathers about resources available in the community.

In addition to the six fathers the film intends to profile, the production will also include testimonials from a number of fathers about their experiences raising children. The film will also showcase several high-profile fathers from around the country.

One of the goals of the film is to record several programs organized by the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative that teaches men how to be better fathers. According to studies, children who grow up with a father are less likely to go to jail, live in poverty or drop out of high school.

The film is produced in collaboration with the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative. The director of the CCFI described the project as one that shines a light on the importance of fathers in the lives of their children.
